When the Sony Walkman was launched, 30 years ago this week, it started a revolution in portable music. But how does it compare with its digital successors? The Magazine invited 13-year-old Scott Campbell to swap his iPod for a Walkman for a week.

"Interesting that Scott thinks that "the majority of technological advancement happened before I was born". Don't you think that's what we all thought, all those years ago? I've every expectation that in 25 years time Scott's children will be looking with horror at the iPods of old and Scott will be scratching his head and trying to keep up with the latest developments."

Since Caltech has an honor system most exams tend to be take home and open book. The instructor for the class will write any special directions at the top of the exam. For a freshman physics exam one year the instructions read:

I've been getting requests to become lecturer in several universities. When I do, I'd like to do these :

1. All students are guaranteed C (pass) mark

2. Questions asked during lectures will count as extra marks for that student.

3. I do NOT care about students' attendance in my lectures. This will be made clear in the beginning of the course.
So I will only have students who are ACTUALLY interested in the topic - not just hunting for marks.

4. Students are NOT required to do homework.

Those who does will get extra mark for their effort.

Those who clearly do diligent research on the homework WILL be compensated generously.

5. My exams will test the students UNDERSTANDING of the course - not their rote / memorizing capability.

However, reading the article linked here, I have doubts if I'd be able to do these.

Would an Iran with Moussavi at the helm look different? - CNN.com

He's been labeled by many as the "reformist," a man who can take Iran beyond the truculent anti-Western rhetoric of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

I'm not a big fan of CNN, but it hit the mark on this article.

Really sad to see how easy people forgot history. This is why we, the small people, kept on being stepped on by the politicians.
